SkillsBank was launched in August 2017 as a website to accompany the flagship report of the Inter-American Development Bank in the Americas titled Learning Better: Public Policies for Skills Development. The report looks at how governments can better promote lifelong skills development. In particular, it analyzes how different skills can be developed at each stage of life, and how public interventions can address market failures to improve skills development. The whole theme of the report is that governments can improve the cost-effectiveness of public policies for skills development by producing and using rigorous evidence to guide policy-making. The SkillsBank website complements the report by providing policy makers, practitioners and researchers with easy access to rigorous evidence on how to promote skills from infancy to adulthood.
